Seahawks upset the Saints. Hasselbeck, until today had thrown only one touch down pass all season

I guess maybe the Seahawks deserved to have a home game in the playoffs after all! Impressive win, they did what they needed to do, and came out with the win. Now they are only 1 game under .500!

"Deserve's got nothin' to do with it." (What movie, anyone?)
Actually you could make the arguement that they wouldn't have won, had the game been in New Orleans. So they definately got a bonus from the league.

So if green bay wins who plays Atlanta next week? The rules say the highest seeded team plays Chicago. Is the highest seed the team with the better record or the division winner? I would guess it's the division winner but what do I really know anyways.

If Philly wins, eagles are the higher seed in any event.

How did they get a bonus. They won their division thereby guaranteeing a home game. New Orleans did not win their division so they had to travel.

Yep, both games were great to watch ... but I had the Saints and the Colts picked ... double loser yesterday!

Today was a real disappointment for a Saints fan. Still, I'm OK with it - they had a prety decent season and you can't expect a SB two years in a row.

As for our 8 million dollar running back, let's just say the thought of him making 11 million next year, is a little disturbing.

Patriots play the Jets next week.

And the Steelers play the winner of Baltimore and KC. (That's going to be Baltimore)

Scipper, indeed the division winner is the higher seed. The division winners are automatically seeds 1 through 4, with one guaranteed home playoff game, despite what their records are. That is the basis for the "unfair" comments regarding the 7-9 Seahawks getting a home playoff game. Only people who live in Seattle area, or in Michigan think it's fair. And I can bet you a nickel the NFL, if it gets a labor agreement in place, will reconsider the issue this off season. Nothing they hate worse than the defending Super Bowl champs being knocked out by a team that STILL has a losing record.
All that said, the matchups in the NFC are NOT set until the game ends this evening. (Unlike the AFC, which has its scenario written)

Me too.
So on that note, I'll say I think the Ravens and the Eagles will win today.

I hope they do like the NBA. It's the same type of deal for getting in to the playoffs, division winners followed by best record for non division but.....
The higher seed does not get home court advantage over a team with a better record. That's the key in my opinion. You are still rewarded for winning the division (as you should be) but a team with a fantastic record also does not give up anything to a worse division winner.

Of course under this system teams like the Giants (this year) would still not make the playoffs so there is still room for people to complain about the playoff system.

Ravens and Green Bay. Unless Rodgers falls apart Green Bay is better than anyone in the NFC (Including my Bears).

On the flip side I have a history of always picking the wrong team. Seriously I stopped betting on football years ago because I pick the winner like 20% of the time. I had Colts and Saints picked to win so if only 1 of my picks wins on sunday (today) I'm right on par.

While I'm in the mood to make predictions, Green Bay over New England in the super bowl!! (or am I just picking those teams so they will lose due to my betting curse??)

This year, who knows who is going to make the Super Bowl. NE is highly favored, but I wouldn't go and bet the farm.....

I'm going to join the Seahawks fan club too. Believe it or not, I'm really happy for them. We share the "triumph of the underdogs" factor in this situation. I suppose the chances of the Seahawks beating some of the folks that they could end up facing is a longshot, just as it was with the Saints, but that's OK - I'll be cheering for them. Go Seahawks!
