Hi All,

I have a very good working SeaKing 5 hp outboard motor. I ordered and recieved a manual (shown as "SeaKing Cover 3.jpg")

I want to replace the impeller because I believe it is no longer working. The manual describes how it should function ( not shown)

but does not tell me the steps to replace it. I have been facinated with the wealth of experience contained by the users of this forum so i thought i would post some images of the parts and ask your help in developing a R and R process.

Here is a view of the power head. (not shown)

And the corresponding parts list. (not shown)

I'm not sure i need to remove the power head so the pics i could not post may not be important if they are i will try to post them.

I also have an image of the Lower Column (shown as "Lower Column Parts View.jpg")

And a corresponding parts list (shown as "Lower column parts list.jpg")

My questions are :

What is the easiest way to access the impeller? DoI remove the power head and come in from the top of the lower column? Or can i access by removing the "foot"? Or gear Housing?

Thans,
Dirk

Check out Landscapewiz808's thread on the Royal 5 hp...I believe according to the information posted in some of the threads that your SeaKing and the Royal's are the same engine. Landscapewiz took pics of and explained the impeller replacement procedure that should be helpful to you. I plan on using the info too. HTH.

Whoa, shotgun, does that manual match your motor? That is for a Clinton motor. Gale and Chrysler also made Sea Kings.

Your question indicates that you somehow found out that you have to remove the powerhead on the Gale motors. But that doesn't apply to the Clinton and Chrysler motors.

A model number would go a long way toward helping you.

As suggested a model number would help.
If it is a Clinton or Eska there is a nut in the exhaust snout and under a cover at the front It seperates at the antivent(cavitation) plate.
