I just acquired a Chrysler/SeaKing 9.9HP motor and had a couple of questions. The number on the tiller tag is VWB 52299D. First can anyone tell me the year of this motor, I believe it to be a 1982 but am not sure. Second, what is the correct fuel/oil mix for this motor. And finally is there any way to tell if the impeller is working correctly and cooling the motor before I put it on the water.

Thanks in advance.

I can help you with the year. It's a 1984. As far as the impeller goes, if this outboard is new to you, and you don't know its history, you should replace the impeller. I'm not familiar with that particular outboard, so I can't tell you how to check its cooling system.

It looks like the impeller is part number 436069 or 18-8903, right here at iboats.

There certainly will be some indication of cooling with the motor running, if not an actual pee stream, then at least blow a water spray out the exhaust relief.

Thanks for the replies. According to the fella I bought it from the motor was just overhauled by a professional, but it may be a good idea to replace the impeller just in case. Would you have any idea on the fuel/oil ratio for this motor?
