I have an old 3 hp seaking with a built in gas tank on top. It gets very hot. I think it might be the water pump. So I took off the prop to get at it and took off two other screws that held on a small plate. What's next. The aluminum spline doesn't slide off. Should I pry it off. How does it come off further. Once I get that off I assume I will have access to the pump. How do I know if it is bad and where can I get parts?

Your engine is a 3 hp 1962 model produced by Gale (OMC). You might look into obtaining a repair manual for it... I believe you can order one at kencook.com.

Sorry I couldn't be of any more help.

Good luck

Walt

jack, your prop hub is corroeded or rusted onto the prop shaft. You may have to heat it to get it off. By then you will have also melted the prop shaft seal. But what has to be done, has to be done. Picture shows an older model without the cushioned prop.

1969nova, your motor is a 1956 12hp, made by Gale Products Division of OMC. It is a Gale model 12D13. Good motors. You hijacked another person's thread though. Please start you own new one and keep in touch.
