Re: seal help

One should never pry a drive off without knowing the proper precedure. Prying on the wrong place and you destroy the drive or the gimbal housing. Properly aligned a drive will simply slip on to within a 1/8 inch by hand.

ok so i replaced the bellows because the leaked water, yesterday i took it out and i seem to still have a small water leak.I pulled the drive today everything was dry.I did not check the shift bellow but just wondering how should it be sealed up like the end that has a zip tie on it.And where else would it leak water from?I Put silicone around and in all holes and ect on the back.

Re: seal help

The zip tie on the end of the shift bellows is perfectly normal. It clamps on the outer sheath of the cable and that is how it seals....

Where exactly did you put the silicone?

Re: seal help

Is the transom rotten? Hard to seal up if its shot. But Mine had a leak I could not find, till summer was over. Turned out it was down below the drive where the trim hoses hook on to the exterior of the drive. The block they hook to had a bad gasket, causing the leak. Problem solved, and a simple fix!

Re: seal help

Could you be more specific about where you put silicone in "holes" ? There are some holes that should not be blocked. Did you use bellows adhesive on bellows themelves?
