I am working on a Mercury 800 (80hp) 4 cylinder. Serial 3190060.
I am looking for a lower unit seal kit, a trim\ tilt unit reseal kit and complete water pump kit with housing. I am finding that the serial numbers for the part kits start at serial 419xxxx. I know it is getting harder to find parts for these. but if anyone knows please help a guy out. The quicksilver book did list the water pump kit as available I will try to cross reference with I boats.
My second question I am having some top end issues the boat planes out ok but top speed is slow like 20mph. If I advance the distributer by hand it does improve some but the engine sputter a bit. It has overhauled carbs and fuel pump. (updated pump kit) A new internal harness from CDI. a wire set with all the terminals also has new NGK plugs. Looks like a new distributor housing The timing looks to be correct and it does seem to be synched per FSM. I am going to leak down the case. The compression numbers were all close on all cylinders. I even installed new bleed restrictors and side cover gasket. I have cleaned and checked the distributor cap and rotor also it has a new center contact/bushing kit. I am hoping a leak down will tell me more. I am also not getting more that 2700 revs out of the engine to. We are at 5000ft CO.
