My granddaddy lived not far from there. We spent many days in the summer on the beaches of southern RI and I don't remember ever seeing harbor seals. If the fact that they are present now is a return to habitat that goes back beyond my memory, I think that is majorly cool.

Yeah, I have seen them from a distance before but never up close like this.
Sometimes they are in more remote areas like rocks off the shore of an island.
From what I have read, this is the time of year (feb/march/april) you are most likely to see them in this area.

I'm trying to think back all of those years ago, and I'm starting to think that I may remember seeing seals up around Narrgansett. I think there was a place there called the "Ocean House" and there were rocks and a seawall.

LOL ... you are really making me dig back in the old memory banks on this one!

There was the Ocean House in Watch Hill which they are presently rebuilding. Big yellow Victorian looking out over the water.
It's probably a common name, so there could be many of them.

You're probably right - we used to go to Watch Hill all the time as kids, to ride the carousel, so "Ocean House" is something that I would remember.

In Narragansette, on the main road along the water, there is a stone arch over the road and a building on the ocean side of it. That's what I am thinking of, whatever it was called. I seem to remember seeing seals along that area
