Seal trim pump motor?

Should I seal the trim motor to the pump housing with sealer or is the thin rubber gasket enough?
No directions came with the motor and the oem manual doesn't cover trim removal/installation.

I use sealer along with the rubber gasket, but it neds to set up. Otherwise it lubricates the rubber gasket and it bulges out of place.

Does this mean apply o-ring, then sealant, and let dry before attaching?....or.... apply o-ring, then sealant, attach, and let dry after attached, before taking out to the water? Im curious... I am about to attach a brand new trim motor too.
