Speedometer pitot tube broke on my boat. I've got a replacement ordered from iboats.com

Here's my question. What type of sealant do I use in the installation? Silicone? 5200?

At the base of the transom, 5200 or 4200. Silicone wasn't meant to be constantly underwater.

Any MARINE Sealant will be fine.
Remember. it has already been broken once, and someday it will be again.
You will eventually need to remove it. 5200 may not be the best choice. Silicon is not an option.

I would go with 4200. 5200 is a little strong so if you ever need to remove it it will be hard.

I've gone ahead and ordered the 4200 along with the pitot. I'm going to bookmark this thread so when I have troubles in the future removing this yet unbroken but will eventually break pitot , I can get all y'alls names and raise heck with ya for your suggestions!!:D

My pitot and 4200 arrived today (very quick service from iboats) and I installed it on my boat.

pitot.jpgHowever, the item was defective in that there were tiny holes in the places I indicated with the red arrows. I inserted an ample supply of the 4200 into these holes to seal them up.

No I didn't. I'm not THAT stupid!!:indecisiveness: Seal up the holes,that is.:D
