Sealed LED Question?

I have just repainted and am rewiring my trailer. I have sealed LED tail,stop and blinker lights. My right blinker does not work and I have tested current down to the light. Am I going to have to replace the entire sealed light or is there a way to replace the bulb?

By the way to the guys on the previous thread about LED's I bought mine at Northern, taile lignts and side markers and paid less than $40.00.

Your best bet is to take it off and just connect it straight across a battery to see if it really bad or not. Polarity does matter with LEDs, by the way, when you do this test.

Typically, there is nothing you can change out. LEDs are soldered to a small circuit board.

Thanks for the info. I will test again. This light is manufactured by Petersen Manufacturing. I spoke with them they said if it is bad, take it back to Northern and they will replace it.

Cool, problem solved.

Once one of the small LED's in a sealed unit goes bad, there's no replacing it.

Strange that it's already started to burn out,......they usually claim 100,000 hours of life.

i "THINK" most led's are warrenty for 5-years and they claim 100,000 hours of life not sure if the 100,000 is part of that or not. most of them have 5 year warrenties though.

i had one of these go out on the garbage truck the other day and i bought a new one for $8. i am not wasting my time on a phone for 8 bucks i will take it back next time i go and see waht they do. never have enough spares.

Polarity very much matters in LED's. Like others said check it against the battery, if OK reinstall it and make sure the ground is good. Most light emitting diodes are good for 50K hours max. Good luck.
