My Flywheel Cover does not have a zerk fitting or access hole to apply grease to in the future. Wouldn't I want a sealed bearing Installed on PDS? There is a open bearing installed on shaft now and it is dry to the bone.

Thanks,
Nolan

I would use sealed if it was mine.

Sealed it is, Local Napa stocks this bearing. Here is the part number 6206-2RSJ Made In USA. 1 year warranty.

I would go sealed for sure... Make sure it's a high quality bearing; German, Swiss, etc.

Re: Sealed or Opend PDS Bearing

I have my first single bearing PDS and it was a pleasure to change. Make sure you clean the area good and apply some grease so removal will be easy next time.

Also, on the reinstall, make sure you go in straight. It should go in with relative ease and a little tapping the last inch or so. If it seems really stuck, you're going in crooked.

On a related note, how often do you guys recommend changing these?

Shaft is in and drive is buttoned up. It went in exactly like you said, last inch or so had to be tapped. I will change this bearing every spring. Only because it would be catastrophic if this 30 dollar bearing went out. And it gives me piece of mind.

Every year seems extreme but I get what you mean. I don't know where you bought it from, but I pay more like $15 for the bearing and $5 for the seal. Any bearing shop will have it.
