sealing a gas leak

I recall seeing a post a couple months ago where somebody sealed a small leak in the side of a carburetor with some kind of sealant. I've searched and searched, but could not find that posting. Could someone direct me to that post or provide a tip on a good sealant? I have gas leaking from around a couple of plugs in the side of one caruburetor on my 1993 150 hp Evinrude. As I understand it, these plugs are replaced in a carb rebuild, but I have no other indication that the carbs need to be rebuilt.

Thanks for the help.

For sealing leaks I could not repair, I use "marinetex". Used it on a seam leak on my Harley fuel tank and it still holds 5 years later.
Good luck

PS if your leak is the little pressed in ball bearings on the side of the carbs, don't sweat it. They all weep a bit.

If you can get a close look at the body of the carb and can tell for sure that there is not a fracture and the leak is indeed coming from one or more of the port caps ,then I recommend just getting a carb kit,and replacing the leaky caps.Unless you know a dealer that can get you just the port caps.Having one spare carb kit won't hurt having anyway.

Thank you Angus63 and OB! Now, is there a good source for those carb kits online, or should I visit a local Evinrude/Johnson dealer?
Thanks.
