Starcraft army, I need help during the worst time of year!!!!!!!, I'am looking for a needle in a haystack in the off season so I can be ready for summer. I would like a large Chieftain or Islander in the out board model, or I would do a inboard, but I fish and duck hunt 12 months a year and really need outboard ease of winterizing, (none self drain and go):D Ihave cash now could save it until spring but we all know how that goes, something will come up and eat it!, The boat in my sig could use the cash but it does not handle big water without getting you wet!, and SWMBO would be happier with cuddy and porta potty, Let the search begin! My needs are, tin, cuddy and freeze proof! what do you think?

Re: Seaech for the holy grail

I'll keep my eyes peeled....your right around the corner from me. I have been told more than once on here that I have the holy grail. :D I guess there can be more than one! Correct me if i am wrong, your holy grail would be a 26' Islander.....

Good Luck with your hunt!

Re: Seaech for the holy grail

I would travel to Oh, Ill, Ind or Wi, And ya DJ I have been trying to figure out exactly where you are at, got a idea from pic you have in resto thread with blurry street sign and had drove through there and seen boat similar but did not pay attention at time. Anytime you need help I am close and I fabricate and wrench for a living, And to all yes a 26' would be the ultimate but a 25' chieftain would be cool. Ithink I could do a I/o as long as I could put a big enough "kicker motor" on it to get me through trolling M lake durring the cold season for EYES

Re: Search for the holy grail

OK, so let me see if I have this straight...

OB preferred, IO acceptable...

The big 26 foot Islander/Chieftain...

Have money, will travel...

Sound right?

Question #1 - Do you only want the big dog 26 footer or are you also ok with 22 footers?

Question #2 - Budget? Are we looking in the $1500 range (total gut and rebuild) or are we looking in the $6000 range (water ready, maybe)? Since you are posting up on the "Boat Building" section I assume we are at the $1500 range, eh!

Suggestion - Post up on the Starcraft side of things, there are some bloodhounds over there that don't always visit over here.

Game on!:D

Re: Search for the holy grail

put a closed cooling kit on it, run a couple heater hoses to the cabing, grab a heater core from the AP store, build a little box with a fan and you have cabin heat and an engine you dont have to winterize.

can also put PET Cocks or 1/4 turn valves on the intake/exhaust drains for quick draining.

Unless you fork over the big bucks for a newer Islander, I don't think you're gonna find anything in the 25-26 foot range with the OB setup.

That one's been for sale since I was shopping back in April. It's around the corner from my brother in law, I could ask him if it's still there.
