How do I drop the lower unit on a late70's early 80's Sears Ted Williams 7.5 hp to change the impellor? What is the correct fuel /oil mix ratio and what type of oil is best? It's air cooled. Thank you

You shouldn't start a repair without a service manual.
My after market manual indicates 74 and later models are 32:1 using TCW rated oil. Some say to use 2 stroke chain saw oil.All my manuals say Out board 2 stroke oil. To drop the lower unit there is a nut under a little cover on the front of the gear case. And a screw in the exhaust snout. If it has a FNR shift there is a little window to unhook the rod.And there is a water tube.
straight drive has no shift rod.

I recently replaced the impeller in my 1975 7.5hp and found it not the eaisest job I ever attempted but by far not the hardest...If you can't get your hands on a repair manual, go to www3.sears.com and enter your model and s/n and you will be able to see a part breakdown of your particular engine....maybe that will help you to see how the bottom end comes apart and how it goes back together...The only really sticky part of the installation I found was getting the water tube back in the proper place...Good Luck!

I was able to get a owners manual and repair manual for my 1975 7.5 hp Ted Williams outboard from a person by the name of Jean Heltsley. I think she is out of Florida (really doesn't matter) but her e-mail address is Jele3@juno.com if you contact her she can very likely suppply you with the manuals or tell you where you can get them..Good luck

Thanks for the replies. I managed to get the lower unit off and hopefully I can get it back together.
