I have several of these motors(later models, black in color). They all leak oil out of the back of the engine. Some worse than others.Just wondering if this is normal......thanks Robert

All 2 cycle outboards condense a portion of the un-burnt oil in the exhaust inside the exhaust tower which will later weep from the drain holes and exhaust outlet. The amount varies depending on many factors---fuel/oil mix, type of oil, water temp, efficiency of combustion (i.e.: proper fuel/air mix from carb and basic state of tune) and predominant usage profile---if you spend many hours at part throttle-- as in trolling--and little at full throttle to 'clean it out'.

I just have my wife save foil pie pans for me and slide one under the lower unit when idle---I even toss dirty paper shop towels in the pie pans to absorb the mess.

Remember---not ALL oil is burned! Some serves as coolant to remove heat from the engine and WILL condense in the exhaust leg---the effect being worse in very cold water.
