Sears Outboard Info Needed

I have an old Sears (Model 217.58990) outboard in my possession that I am considering purchasing to use on my sailboat. The motor ran OK when packed up and has been in storage for over ten years. It should come alive again with a little TLC and elbow grease.

I have had no luck (online) searching for data on this model and hope that someone can help. I would like to find or copy a service manual, a parts resource, and get any suggestions for what should be a reasonable price to offer.

1970 5Hp with a Tecumseh powerhead (mod 643-15) and Eska leg.

Powerhead parts are common and available most anywhere you get lawnmower parts. Replace the water pump impeller. It'll be rotton by now. It's air cooled and only the exhaust is cooled with the water pump, but they run bad and start hard when they get hot. Use chainsaw oil at 32:1.

These motors are at best a comprimise they vibrate,
constantly need tinkering,are under powered for their rating.parts can be a pain to get.If free or cost next to nothing and you don't mind tinkering it may serve.
If you have the money hold out for a 3 to 6 hp Evinrude or Johnson.These are 5 times the motor in all respects and routine parts are available all the way back to the 1950s.Some right here at iboats.

I would add that no matter what you run, always put stabilizer in the fuel. You won't use much gas and it will varnish over time if you don't use it up or stabilize it.
