Seasense adjustable stern light question?

I'm wiring one of these into my 16' Princecraft starfish. The wire used to attach my wire to the stern light above is very small in diameter (one half the diameter of the 12 gauge wire I'm using). Would this be the cause of a dim stern light? (The bow light is good and strong.)

12 gauge wire??? Way overkill. The stern light wire size is normal since it only has to power one bulb. No -- wire size is not the issue. Wrong bulb or other wiring issues are the problem.
