SeaSquirt Specs & Drainage

Hi there.

I purchased a 15 foot SeaSquirt. From my reading of other threads, this boat is from a small and now defunct company in Florida. The company also produced and sold a series of boats called "SeaStrike," after its "SeaSquirt" line.

I love my little boat, and it is *perfect* for me. I keep it in a RI salt pond which is relatively shallow and it is big enough to take into the ocean on calm days. I love it!

I am having a problem with the boat holding water. It's not taking in water through the hull, but the drainage system is not pushing it into the bilge. I think there is either a clog in the drainage system, which is causing water to accumulate in the starboard side of the stern. Anyway, instead of draining into the bilge, some of the water is draining from the bilge into an area just to the starboard side of the bilge, just under where the battery sits.

We put in an inspection port, and some of the foam is wet toward the bottom, but it isn't saturated. We plan on removing some of the deck and replacing the foam this winter.

Does anybody have any information on the drainage system on the SeaSquirt or the SeaStrike? I read a thread where someone re-fashioned the drainage system, but I can't find the thread! I'd love the specs or a blueprint on this boat, so that I can take a look at how the system is supposed to work and make sure it isn't clogged or disconnected.

I've loved reading some of the advice some of you have to offer. This is my first post, so I hope I've provided enough information.

Thank you!

Re: SeaSquirt Specs & Drainage

Welcome to iboats!
there could be anything cloging the scuppers ( drains) . you can make a new drain anywhere and attach a plastic tube to drain in the bilge pretty cheap & simple from from a hardware store or ever a big box home improvement store. or you could buy marine fitting and look a little nicer but cost more.
My boat has drains added under the engine cover sun pad that were added during the restoration. The tubes empty in the bottom of the bilge.
Good luck and post a photo of the problem if you can.

Thank you so much for the reply! I'll try to post a photo to show where the scuppers empty into the bilge. The problem is that the water is running *out* of the bilge and into the drain! I'll take a close up of the bilge and figure out how to post it.

Would it be easier to replace the hoses on the current drainage system? I've never done this before, but this drainage system seems pretty confusing. I'll explain when I have photos.

Thank you for the warm welcome!

Drain hoses are pretty simple most of the time. Yes , replacing a clogged hose or even clearing it out is the way to go.
I'm trying to figure out the "water running out of the bilge and into the drain " LOL
You can do it !

I have a group of photographs of the scuppers, the bilge and the other parts of the drainage system. I read in another thread that the best way to post the photos is photobucket. Is that correct? Looking for the most efficient way to post my pics. Thank you!
