I am looking at a 2000 Seaswirl Striper with a NEW Volvo 5.7 Penta by Jasper. I have never owned an inboard motor before. Any pit falls I should be thinking about? Owner claims engine was replaced and comes with a 2 year warranty. Talk to me like i'm 4. Does this engine cost more to maintain? Will it be more relaible than an outboard? Will noise from it drive my kids nuts? What kind of speed should I expect? Is it better on fuel ecomony? I am hesitant about the inboard, talk me into or out of it please. More advise the better. Also the guy is asking around $20,000, sound fair? How about the boat itself, I am looking for something to use on the Chesapeake and Cape Cod for fishing and light family cruising with young kids. Anything I should specifically be looking for when I go and look over boat? Thanks guys, if you have anything to add feel free, I am a sponge for info...Rand

I see two major things wrong with this picture. why was the engine replaced in a 6 year old boat? that identifies lack of care or it's got thousands of hours on it. And next, that 2 year warranty. Make sure it is transferable. Most aftermarket warranties are only for the original purchaser. I say: BEWARE!!! Sterndrives are expensive!
