Seaswirl transom question

I just bought a 1999 Seaswirl 21 foot WA. I was under the impression that it did not have any wood construction. I had to drill into the transom today to mount a sonar unit and water came out. I did not drill all the way through but past the fiberglass and into what looked like wood. It has me worried about he transom rotting. Any advice or information ? I am the 3rd owner so I do not have any hull waranty.

Yes it has wood in the transom, so does my 2003 model 2601.
Water coming out of the drilled hole is a very bad sign. Before it starts to rot and loose structual integrity you really need to get that fixed.

Does anybody know....does all (even older ones) seaswirls have wood in the transum? Mine with and I/O seems fine...can one tell by sounding on the transum with a rubber mallet or something...certainly don't want to drill for trouble I might not have.

Answered my own question...at least 1 &1/2 inches of layered hard wood, I think and solid...I don't know why I didn't spot it when I took off the steering cable...one track mind. Its a 1973...19 footer...without a cabin...for which I am thankful. A black layer of 'something tough' faces the interior.
