In the seat of the 2007 Cobalt 232, the fixing hardware for the two cushions is fixed by rivets.
I cannot move the top pad, even after using wd 40.
This is normal?
Instead of rivets, fixing should not be done by screws?

Thank you so much

Why do you want to remove the hinge rivets?
Remove the 4 screws attaching the hinge to the seat. After removing the hinge, which pad are you wanting to remove - the seat or the lumbar?

I explained badly.
The problem is the fixation that is corroded and does not let the seat go up and down.
I'm about to put wd 40 to unlock the rivets of the fixing hardware, they don't have any play.

OK. Do the hinges move at all?
WD40 is the wrong thing to use unless you have the WD40 penetrating oil product. Take the hinge off and use some heat with penetrating oil and start working to open and close the hinge.

The trouble with replacing the rivets with screws is longer than rivet screws will rub and damage the upholstery if clearance is tight.

That hardware should have been stainless. That is the issue, not the rivets.

You can drill them out and replace with stainless bolts and nylon locknuts. That should work for a while longer.
