Hi all,
I would like add a few pedestal style seats to my boat when i replace the floor. Right now I have nothing but would like to put 3 in. Does anybody have an idea where i could get the parts. I need the part that goes into the deck as well as the seat. I have no idea where to begin looking.

Re: Seat Parts

Wow...I feel dumb. That wasn't at all. Thanks for the help. I'm not sure how I'm going to do it exactly because I need to take out my bench seats. So I have to replace that structure somehow then add the seats in. Any suggestions would be great. Its a 16' Lund from the early 70's I think.

Thanks again!

Re: Seat Parts

are you talking about an aluminium boat with bench seats that go all the way across?

if you are....those are structural. as far as the under deck....do as td suggested.

Re: Seat Parts

Thanks for the reply oops. Yeah the bench seats are in an alumn. boat. I'm working on figuring out a way to remove these but replace with something else. I have an uncle who is really good with welding alumn and I was thinking he might be able to weld me a frame that acts as a stringer then goes up the sided like the seats do. I want to take the middle out and put two cabinets on the sides. I was thinking that this frame would be rigid enough to take the place of the bench seats, the cabinets would cover this structure up and nobody would ever have to know.:D

What do you think?

Re: Seat Parts

yup....but only if you weld it.....the frame must be some lind of "L" bracket....kinda like a shelf bracket...but only on its side....your uncle...being a welder, is a kinda "structural engineer".

so he will know where to weld...

in the compleated projects forum.....dj, and lund both did tinnys....both exellent jobs.

read those threads...all of em.....each hour you spend here reading will take 6 hrs off your project labor time

Re: Seat Parts

Thanks oops. I will check out those threads. I'm sort of like a fish out of water here. I'm not really sure what i'm doing, I draw houses and buildings for a living, not boats, but I'm reading as much as a I can to learn. It will be a while before I start. When I get a design figured out I will post it her for everyone to look at and give some feedback.

Thanks again
