Seating questions?

I'm looking at a Sea Ray 180 b/r with 175hp v6 engine. I want to use it for skiing and fishing. The boat has the optional aft sun platform. It looks like you lose a lotta space with this arrangement, 2 capt and 3 on the bench. Is this gonna get kinda crowded? The cockpit area seems very limited. How about skiing, it's gonna be awkward for a backward lookout? Is there a simple solution to change seats? Funny thing is this was a high option boat and now I think the sun deck is a minus. Any opinions please. Thanks

Re: Seating questions?

Well, that is a good boat. What year if I might ask? I have a 92 180 b/r, and mine has the two back-to-back, and the doghouse with the cushions on either side. Personally, I would much rather have your setup. I mean, the passenger's captain chair should swivel, right? You can still comfortably sit 7 people. The cockpit in that model is crowded as is, I use a very small cooler, because the big one has to go between the seats and you have to step over it to get by.

It's an 89. Yeah, I guess the seat should swivel, that would work for skiing. I'll have to check and make sure. Are you tight with 7?

Re: Seating questions?

Just a thought but is your boat rated for 7?

My 16 is only rated for 4 so that's what has me asking.

if its a bow rider i don't see why you couldn't get 7 in there.. but check the capacity.

Re: Seating questions?

My 18' boat is rated for 8 people. With 7 in there, usually the fiancee sits in the bow with the 2 kids, myself driving, and then 3 people filling up the back-to-backs. I just leave the cooler in the stern corner, and no it isn't too crowded. The only time it can become a hassle is when pulling up to a dock, and having all the kids / adults trying to walk around at the same time.
