Second Fishfinder needs second xducer?

So I have a Humminbird 767 FF mounted on the back of my 07',16' Mirrocraft Outfitter aluminum boat. It's fed by a external GPS antenna and transom mount duel beam transducer. I'd like to add another humminbird brand FF up in the bow (no model selected yet) for those times I fish with a friend. I've looked around and see that Humminbird makes a switch that allows me to feed to units with one xducer but it will only allow running one FF at a time. I'd like to run both so am thinking I'll need to mount another xducer on the transom on the other side.

So is two identical frequency xducers running 5' from each other going to give me feedback issues? Is there a better way.

I have Humminbird 997c and Huminbird 597ciHD at the helm.....transducers are on opposite sides of the main motor. I have not noticed any issues, although I think the transducers and frequencies are different

The 997 and the 597 use different frequencies.

Standing on the bow and looking at a sonar on the transom will not be useful unless you are fishing the bottom and the water is at least 50 feet deep.
If using the high resolution mode with a 20 degree beam, you will need more than 100 feet of water to see anything under the bow.
You will really need to mount the transducer under the fisherman or he will be looking at what is 16 feet behind him.

I see your point but I rarely fish more than 20' of water. I only want the nit in the bow for depth and temp reference . 13' away will be close enough as I rarely run a bow mounted trolling motor and don't want to mess with an aluminum hull up front.

Your options then would be to get another simple Sonar that does not share the 83/200khz frequency with the 767,
Or, Get two new units that are capable to share the Transducer through an Ethernet connection.

I actually just purchased a HUMMINBIRD176i portable last night for my fleet of canoes. ( Couldn't refuse the price). This unit would be adequate for my needs so I think I'll do some sea trials with it. If it works, I can pick up another transducer and I'll be all set.
