1995 115 hp ocean runner....
been learning more as I go, took some carbs apart this past week that came from my 90 hp Iam rebuilding and from the extra set of 115 hp carbs I have planned for when the rebuild is done...sooo
been measureing and cleaning jets...mainly air bleed and high speed..
been wondering about the different numbers on them...
seems the 69D's I JUST took out of my running motor( one on the boat now, 115 ocean runner) that has been running slightly hot....have bigger holes than the 73D jets I took out of the 1996 115 intruder carbs i bought.
that seem right?
the 90 hp carbs had 58's in them
anyway.......the jets in the 115 on the boat now,.....
seemed loose!!
zero torque to udo them..I wasnt even sure the tool I made for removing these jets was even engaged....
what is the ramification of loose jets??
could it cause a lean condition???
one is weird( well I ahve only seem 8 in hand so far !!!) they are usually a small dia then they get bigger for the threads, then they have anothe rlong smaller section that goes in first...
the outer smaller dia has the slot for the special tool( basically a screw driver slot)
one of the jets had no outer small dia and the slot was in the threads... BUT it is the same length as the other one..negating any idea it was broken off and re cut....
anyone????
I ran a reamer down the intruder jets and cut them .081" with a new reamer from their .080" ID before...nice and round and clean ....
that .001 shouldnt bother anything should it???
the 69D look to be at least .090" ID or larger....same HP ...hmmmm
****CHANGE THAT the 69's are .075" ID...***
i was comparing the 58 and the 69!!!!
also the book says that the idle screw needle adjustment starts out at 3 turns out from seated..
the 90 hp and the 115 intruder carbs needles were all 7-8.5 turns out???
that ok?
because when I put the 90 hp back together, I will be using the books recomended 3 turns out...unless there is a reason i should try an dmatch the old carbs 7-8.5 turns
thanks....
sorry for all the questions
trying to be diligent and keep my motors together
