Re: seems like prop is spinnig out.. but its not the prop ???
Oh yeah. Those things are a disaster. I bet once you straighten/tighten them you'll experience a significant decrease in ventilation. You may pick up a little more speed, but I wouldn't expect a meaningful increase. 20 mph on that rig, especially given the age, is acceptable. Glad you have something to go on though.

i also have a pretty good size dent on my left side pontoon on the inner side, just about 2 feet in front of prop, its down past the center of tube and its probally close to 10 in. round and maybe close to 2 inches deep...could this affect it and whats the best way to pull it out ? bout the only way i see is to drill holes, use a jerk bar and reweld up the holes...more trouble than its worth unless it is causing more ventalation.

thanks for the pics..but those are of the pontoon tubes, the pics i posted was the motor box..it also has wings on it. i have been looking at other pontoons and most of them don't have these..wonder if i really need them ?

Yeah, those shots are from the front. Here's another from the front, but with the box as well (I think they call it a pod, not sure now).
My recollection is that they deflect a lot of water away from the bottom of the boat (underside of the decking). This strikes me as a very good thing. If I think of it, and it's safe (for the camera), I'll try to take some pictures while underway.
