Seems NO ONE!!! can ID this Johnson

i have previously made a post asking to id this johnson
i have no id numbers only a number of a welsh plug on the side of block :A7355846 i have also been told that this is not much help i was hoping maybe someone knows if or how to match number to models using this (i believe part number)
if anyone can be any help with id`ing this please do

The number is the serial number. The A means it was made in Australia. I have been looking, but can't find anything like that hood. I don't know if a Johnson dealer could ID the year from the serial number or not.

It is sort of obvious that it might be a model only made in Australia.

Bob's your uncle...Not. It's uniquely Aussie, that number doesn't match any Johnson model/serial number I have going back to the 20's. They went to that type of seahorse decal in the 70's, I think, here in the states but can't speak for the big down under. Maybe another person from there can help you date it.

That motor is built like the old 4hp that was around about 15-20 years ago. The top black area was the throttle control and you had a bunch of screws to remove to take off the covers to get to the motor, Even the 2 screws on the steering handle had to be removed.

They had problems with the upper crankshaft bearing and it would wear and get wobbley if the motor was not maintained well.

I believe that motor style was built in the Hong Kong plant that OMC had.
