Installing a tow ring on a '97 Bayliner Carpi. I've attached a photo of the 3 potential locations. I intend on using a backing plate. I would like the ring to be as high as possible but would like feedback if I would run into any problems (aside from properly having it supported for stress).

Location C (in the photo) is with the ring flipped in an orientation I saw on a tower. A & B are simply on the transom. I have also attached a photo of the inside and I'm checking clearances now. Is there anywhere to look up the transom thickness so I can judge bolt clearance to objects inside the hull?

Suggestions on best location?

My choice would be B location that is where mine is now(different boat) but it seems to be the most used location. If I were to use the lower spot I would just go with a bridal onto the transom hooks and not have to install another thing through the hull.

mine is in the "B" location, but there is a recess molded into the fiberglass to help reinforce it. plus the backing plate and 2 support brackets. I wish i had my camera with me.....
