Here is a list of places we have discussed.

http://www.rvonthego.com/Crystal-Isle.html This is the Crystal River site.
Just read Ricks last thread, just how deep is the canal and what other place can we put in.

http://www.floridastateparks.org/lak...in/default.cfm This is Lake Griffin
The bikers have this one for the time we want it.

http://www.riversidelodgerv.com/frame.htm Inverness Fl
River area only 2 to 4 feet deep

http://www.yellowjacketcampground.com/
A little on the pricey side, nice looking, but in the middle of nowhere with no place to stay if not camping, no place to get provisions either

http://www.floridastateparks.org/gam...rs/default.cfm This is Gamble Rogers State Park

http://www.floridastateparks.org/jonathandickinson/
Did we ever get anymore info on this one, would be a long haul for me but looks nice, I did not find decent priced motels any where close, at least not like in LG

http://www.parramores.com/
I do not remember if we qualified or disqualified this one, looks decent, not sure of pets

http://www.hartsprings.com/
What is the water depth in the river here and does anyone have more info. This is West of Gainesville

http://www.floridastateparks.org/jonathandickinson/ ocean front camping, boating intracoastal, dock long distance from camp sites.

I am in for Crystal Isle.

Just FYI from above the river is plenty deep at Hart springs for most anything you want to run.

Hart Springs is a neat place. Spent last Sunday there. There is a brand new *free* :)boat ramp right on the Suwanee. River depth is no problem for any recreational boats, it's over 12 feet there, at this time. About a mile south, is "The Sand Bar". aka "Redneck Yacht Club", "Party Central". 4-2' deep on the east side of the river. Folks anchor there, visit and what not, have a general good time. Not uncommon to see 40+ boats anchored there.

As far as the actual springs, go I have never been in them. Campground looks nice from the road.

Re: Selection time. vote for the site you want. Florida Get Together

I think I'm missing something about crystal isle or something.

Are we really looking for a resort now?

How many people actually stayed in a hotel last time?

When did a swimming pool and jacuzzi become important as opposed to a beach?

I don't know I'm missing something I tried to re read the thread but it's mostly off topic comments, if someone could point me towards parts that make crystal isle.

I'd much rather go to Jonathan Dickenson which has camping and a beach/ swimming area. You know nature, outdoors and boating!

Or Hart springs sounds good too. Even has a swimming area / place for the ladies to lay out in the sun. I like the idea of a sand bar run too.

Swimming pools are everywhere and at private ones you can have more fun who wants to go to a resort and hangout at their pool.

You know when we discussed this the first time seems that a lot of people had a lot of requirements/ conditions for the event and then never showed up.

Bard took what had to be the worst camping site so they could enjoy being outside with their dogs, how will that work at a RV resort? Bet they'd have fun playing on the sand bar, and so would Tasha!

I think the dockside camping area sold most.

I vote for Crystal Isle, although we only have a small boat (13 Whaler) and we would just be day-trippers.

Crystal Isle looks great to me. Having said that Mrs Ken and myself will be happy anywhere that is chosen. We have never been anywhere near there ever and it will be quite the adventure for us as well as a very long drive.
Please confirm the exact dates for us as soon as possible so that we can arrange the time off. I am planning to schedule a visit to our Alabama facility either directly before or after this event so that we will be a lot of the way there already. I am still planning to bring our boat all the way from Canada but am a little wary as she has never seen salt water before !!!
Looking forward to seeing and meeting you all.
Ken.

Craig, if Crystal Isle is our place this year, then I think we must agree to get out of Central, West Central Florida for our next event. I don't think it is fair to our other members who are living a long ways away from here to have to make that drive each year.

I agree about last years thread..lots of input and we were thinking maybe 60 - 70 people and then there were only about thirty of us.

Crystal Isle offers canal front camping sites that many of us here liked; not necessarily cabins or motel rooms.

Don't get discouraged...I was one who early on thought Jonathan Dickerson would be a good choice. We went by there about five or six years ago on a scouting trip and were impressed. It will be at the top of my list for next years event.

Ken.

And it will be good meeting you and the Mrs as well. I will have my salt-a-way attachment with me, so the Johnson can get a good washdown and remain salt freel, don't worry! Just make sure the trailer has had a thorough going over. Tire pressure is important as well.
Looks as if you may be getting the long distance award...;)

Don't forget to pull the hubs, check and pack the wheel bearings, tire pressure up and just come on down. :D

Re: Selection time. vote for the site you want. Florida Get Together

Hey Craig, I am going to enjoy where ever, I like being in water that I can see the bottom in, my brown water up here in Georgia does not allow you to see bottom. I also have no problem with moving around in Florida, the places you mention look real nice, I plan on making some notes on the places we do not use this year so we can discuss at the meeting during the 2010 gathering. It is bad that I have lived in Ga all my life and have never been in the Fl waters until the last few years so it is all good to me. :D
