Re: Selenoids and relays

You need to be a little more specific about what help you are needing.

First, what model and serial motor are you working with?

Part replacement can be an expensive and frustrating way to solve a problem if you haven't figured out exactly what part is causing the problem.

What solenoid problem?

What cable problem?

Re-post the symptoms, and what you have tried, and we can help you make sure that you track down your solutions.

Re: Selenoids and relays

Is it safe to assume that you are talking about changing the old trim solenoids out and installing the newer style compact relays?

A potential problem here is that the old solenoid system used a THREE wire trim motor, the solenoids simply energized the blue or green wire to run the motor CW or CCW, the black wire was the ground.

The newer relays are used with a TWO wire trim motor, the relays used their Normally Closed (NC) side for the ground when the other relay triggered to energize the motor, thus one relay would run the motor CW, and the other CCW.

It IS possible to change, update so to speak, but you would have to be careful to ONLY use the Normally Open contacts (NO) of the relays in place of the solenoids.
