I have a 1988 Bass Tracker Tournament V-17 with a 45hp Mariner outboard. I just recently noticed there is no initial BEEP when I turn the key to the right in preparation to start the motor. Most posts I have found on here related to this are people having issues with the beeper staying on constantly. I got to thinking maybe my alarm system went bad initially. I read on here to ground out one of the tan wires coming from the over heat sensors at the cylinder heads. When I did this, the alarm buzzer did the long beep for engine over heating. So that tells me my buzzer alarm is actually working. I have checked all of my fuses and they are not blown. Now what should I try? Also for further information the oil tank was removed many years ago by a local repair shop so the boat has been using 50:1 mixed fuel. Boat runs and starts fine, just curious why the self test warning isn't sounding off. I appreciate any suggestions.

tha self check beeps originate from an oiler warning module.. it (module) should have been disabled/removed when tha oiler was disabled..

Ok good deal, so I am fine? I don't know why I was thinking it gave a self check beep. Maybe I was just thinking about one of my old boats. I haven't had this one long, got it off my grandpa. I appreciate your reply.
