I bought my 1971 Mercury 400 from a guy that bought it thinking it would power his 23' Mako in place of his twin 140 hp Johnsons. He bought it online, no idea that 400 meant 40 hp. Imagine his surprise when he realized it was only a two cylinder motor will a rope start.
There was also a Honda 100 listed as 100 hp on CL a few months ago here. No amount of explaining could make him realize it was only 10 hp.
