Ahh. The joys of selling a boat.

Not asking a lot and CL has got 6 responses. Gave 2 my address and instructions etc. saying I'm home tonight at 6.

Ayup. 2 no shows. Both guys who really wanted it.

Plus I'm selling a boat to a friend. Told him to call me today. Again, no call. That boat is going on CL as well.

Want to have the funds by the weekend so I can try to track down a 14' John boat.

I love doing this. Especially seems I'm such a good buyer and never bail without a phone call.

Next 2 guys on the list are up. See if they get back to me.

I just sold a projector on CL and it was a royal PITA with no shows. My typical CL experience is someone emails me to see if the item is still available.....I response yes....they never respond. AHHHHHHH

Yeah...no shows are a real problem with Craigs List. They were with the old newspaper classifieds, too. Sometimes you can tell that someone will be a no-show from their email or phone call. Usually not.

My strategy is to tell people who ask if I still have an item is to tell them, "Yup...for now, but I can't say for how long. If you're interested in it, you'd better come by soon. Call me on your cell phone just before you leave to come over and I'll tell you the current status. The first person with the cash goes home with the item."

Usually, at least one of this type of caller shows up right away and buys the thing.

Re: Selling a 12' tinnie

Well. The friend who was looking at my smaller boat decided he couldn't do it. Never looked at it.

Someone actually came buy tonight to look at the 12' and ended up taking the 9' flat bottom instead.

So I'm emailing all the people I've kept in line to see who wants the 12'.

Next step is to find the 14' I want (Lowe 1436 or something similar).

Well that was no fun.

One of the prior no-shows apologized and we made another appointment.

He came and bought the boat.

Now I can't whine about this. 2 boats sold in 2 nights.

Where's the fun in that.

Now to find the boat I want. And it looks like I might have to buy new (grrrrr)
