Selling a 64' Starcraft price opinions?

I bought a 1964 18' Starcraft Holiday a few months back with trailer but no motor for $500. The boat doesn't need anything besides for new wood in the seats. Vinyl and padding are ok and the frames are steel.
I put a 1976 75 HP Evinrude on her and had her out at least 5 times since. Unfortunately I'm one of the many now laid off workers in Michigan and have to sell it. I posted her on craigslist for $1500 with no one asking any questions on it. So I was wondering what you experts think that the boat w/fish finder, marine radio, bilge pump with the trailer and engine are worth? Everything works of course. Should I maybe try ebay and suck up the $120 successful sale fee? I'll try to post a pic of it. Any help would be great thanks.

Sorry about your situation. I would really have thought that $1500 would be the right price on that. Adding some pictures and maybe even video (if you have the capability) of it running or better yet in the water will really help. Craigslist horribly reduces the size and quality of pictures but you can still upload a bunch to Photobucket.com and use them in your add.

Too bad it's a holiday and not and open bow SuperSport or I'd be happy to help you out.

Re: Selling a 64' Starcraft price opinions?

I guess I'd be as qualified as anyone to answer this since I live in Michigan and have been looking to buy an aluminum Starcraft for quite some time now. I am limited by the fact that I can't store a boat in my yard and my garage is not big enough for anything longer than 16':(

You got a good deal on the hull/trailer:D

I'm looking at a 15' Holiday and have been offering below his list price because I know that demand is seriously down(people moving out of state due to our 5 year recession here:() He was asking $900 and he's dropped it to $600 now for the boat and trailer w/ no motor. You can see my thread regarding this boat here.

So I would say that your price at $1500 is pretty reasonable. Assuming that the 75hp runs great the motor could've sold for that by itself in recent years. It will sell at some point but to sell ASAP you woud need to bring it lower by a few hundred. That boat could have sold for as much as $2500 five years ago but things have changed.

How much did you pay for the 75hp? That info would help since you added $1000 to the price for the motor being added.

Good luck with selling the rig and sorry to hear about being laid off.

BTW if I talk to my landlord and he gives me the thumbs up on parking it in the driveway I'll buy it from you:) Where are you located? I would like to check out the boat if you are anywhere near Lansing.

Shadow the sad part is with the current economy the boat market is flooded with boats . I have watched the same 2 Holidays here for months one a 19' the other 18' with a price of $1750.00 each and they are both clean boats.

Thanks for all your responses.
Well I lowered the price to $1000 on craigslist with just 1 inquire and they want a video of the engine running. Only problem is with me taking the time to get the water bucket out, take the video, uploaded it the computer, compress the video so its easier to e-mail is just a pain. I put in the add that I would take them out on the river before they paid for it. Asking for a video when I offer a test run makes me believe the guy isn't serious about buying the boat.

Do you have a link to the ad or some pictures you can post?

I'm up north for a week and a half so I wouldn't be able to check it out for a while but will keep you posted.:)
