Has anybody used the mercruiser cd's that I see at Amazon and on Ebay? Are they the actual manuals or some kind of abbreviated version? I have the Seloc for my unit, but at times the pics and the info are a little fuzzy. If the cds are not worth it any ideas on where I can find a Mercruiser parts/repair manual? 2000-5.0-alpha1,gen2.

Re: Seloc manual vs Mercruiser

I bought one off of ebay, luckily for minor money. As it turns out the guy has a master disc and was simply burning and badging copies and selling them. Mine was shipped to me completely blank...nothing on it at all.
He said to send it back....I thought wtf? It was just a copy...send me a another one. Nope.
Anyhow, it was not even worth the time/effort/shipping cost to send it back and have it 'redone'. It was simply a walkaway.
I don't know if it's the same guy but you should definitely ask if its an original/licensed version or a copy.....and then decide for yourself.
You would think the Merc/etc would go after this guy for infringing. oh well.
Regardless, good luck and keep us posted.

CDs are horrible unless you have computer in your garage, first you have to find what you need, then print it out, it is just a PITA.
I got an OMC manual specific to my engine on Ebay for $35, worth many times that.
Do an advanced search, check title and descrition see what you find but stay away from the cds.

I bought a PDF manual off Ebay for around $15 for Force outboards. It is not branded so I don't know if it's a PDF version of Seloc, Clymer or mfg. manual. On the down side it covers several size motors and multiple years so I have to scroll through a lot to find info specific to my motor but when I do I can print it off and take it to the garage.
