Re: Seloc Repair Manual on iboats - Good or Bad?

I bought the Clymer Yamaha Manual a couple of weeks ago and have really enjoyed studying about my 1999 Yamaha 90C outboard. the motors are fairly complex and certain special tools, meters and expertise is required to call yourself a "Yamaha Technician", which I'm not. But the more you can study and understand how your motor works, the better you can maintain and troubleshoot it, if and when you do have a problem. I'm mostly interested in learning how to make my motor run safely and dependably all the time and to avoid costly trips to the Yamaha Repair shop. There's a lot to be learned from these forums and sharing information and experiences. Good Luck!

Those aftermarket manuals cover many models, and thus none of them in much detail.

I much prefer a factory model-specific manual and recommend them to others.

my Clymer Manual deals only with Yamaha 4HP thru 90HP, only 2 stroke motors, but when you order yours it will be for your specific type motor. It also has a good section on troubleshooting the motors for a wide variety of problems. really helps you to understand the motors.

I have a Seloc manual and, as said earlier in this thread, these are not model specific manuals and therefore often don't have much detail that pertains to specific units, but I'm still happy I have it because there is much to be learned. I'm looking for a Yamaha Service Manual for my particular motor and when I find it (used - almost a c-note for a new one) will refer to both manuals for insight.
