For the engine specified in the OMC manual there is no comparison, Bigcat.<br /><br />You get a whole manual, written by OMC, devoted to that engine, rasther than about 10%, written by someone else.
Have heard quite a bit of negative feedback about the Solec manuals. Iv'e got the Clymers and factory manuals. Clymers is written for the DIY but sometimes overlooks details and gives wrong information. The factory manual is written for the professional and is less descriptive but the info is accurate and complete.
RodC, it seems to me to depend on the particular manuals. For one outboard Seloc is better than Clymers, for another Clymers is better than Seloc. But the Factory manual is always better. When a DIY type question arises there's always Iboats ready to answer it.
I have a Mercury OEM manual and I found it to be very good and easy to use. Some common sense is required, but , if you are working on your own motor, sound like you have a good head on your shoulders . Check e-bay, they pop up there once in a while and go fast. That is where I got hold of mine.
