Re: Sen. Kerry's recent blunder...

PW2 says: When you have general after general retire and go public with how ineffective our efforts have been in Iraq, The intelligence community saying that we are creating more terrorists than we are killing, and by all reports we are at the precipice of a full blown civil war, it is time for a change in direction.

Since when are janitors or social wokers in command of an army?
Although I can think of one elected position that could be better filled by a janitor ;)......JK

Unlike your post OJ, Pw had a point. His point since you missed it;

Generals, you know the type, the type trained to strategize wars, are telling us that our efforts are ineffective do to poor tactics and strategy. What was your point?

Are you sure speedwagon? So you think he screwed his statement on this one? I think you need to get familiar with "figures of speech," because you do not understand the one you used.

When properly used, the "pooch" would represent, say, the elections, his personal re-election, the democratic party, the 2008 presidential bid, or something along those lines. Not his "statement."

I agree with the stupidity of the statement. It was very stupid to say the least. if you want to point that out, I could not care less. The "figure of speech," you used suggests something other than Kerry is hurt by this. I disagree with that. I guess I became confused when you incorrectly used this particular "figure of speech."

You may be a very intelligent person SW, I don't know, but when you claim another may lack it, you better be right. Otherwise, you look like...well, you know.

The "pooch that got screwed" just might be the Democratic party... well, we can all hope.

The Democratic official said the issue doesn't appear to change the impact of any races, but it may threaten to attract more GOP supporters in close Senate contests in Missouri and Tennessee.

"You just don't need something that might bring out extra people for the other side," the official said.

Only time will tell. Many states will be interesting to watch.

I just don't get Kerry. The last thing any democrat should want to do right now is draw attention away from the problems they played a smaller role in creating.

He should go home and stay in the house until after the election. I also think W should not harp too much on Kerry's statement. At some point, the public will all understand his reason for doing so. To distract from his own stupidity. That will only work for a day or two. If he talks without a script too much, it is only a matter of time before he is up to his elbows as well.

I don't consider myself in a position to determine whether or not anything beyond Kerry's statement was screwed up by what he said. I do believe, however, that what he actually said was probably not intended to come across like it did. I'm not saying he doesn't believe what he said(he well might), but I don't think he meant to say it like that. Therefore, he screwed the pooch on his statement. I can't say if he messed up anything else, only time will tell. But I would venture a guess that he did lose at least SOME support now.

I never claimed Kerry was stupid. I said he made a stupid statement, as we all do on occasion. I don't think you can actually be stupid, AND make it to a high level of office. Luck and money can carry you far, but I don't think it can get, and keep you in office.

There is a large difference between a stupid statement(which is ALL I said was stupid), and a stupid person.

I try not to get into political pi$$ing matches most will not change anyones mind, but I would just like to say "You Can Not Fix Stupid" even the Demoncrates have given up on that with Kerry, although they still spend alot of time trying to spin what he says, but they still have a few that cling to the party regardless of it's mistakes. Even though I do not agree with the policies that are being used in Iraq, I feel that the people who continue to cry about it in public are killing are young people in the war zone as sure as if they pulled the trigger and to hear a Demoncrat say get over it. I beleive your the ones that have been crying for the last four years. IF Traitor Fits Then Wear IT--Bob

I do agree that they(all parties and sides) have said their peace, and should move on to something else now.

Why dont you say "Your" efforts in you statement. When you say "our", it sounds as if your including yourself. Somehow I cant picture you defending this country in any way. Unless you can point you nagging towards the enemy, keep to the kitchen..

OJ, Quit your silly nagging!

Why don't you say "we" instead of "you" when you speak of nagging? Sounds like you are excluding yourself from "nagging." I cannot picture "nagging" without you playing a major role.

E day is approaching OJ, step away from the panic button, step away from the panic button. My kitchen does not have one of those. I am sure yours does though.

Good point. I will conceed it. When I couldn't reason with my Ex-nagging-wife.......I would walk away....when she followed me to deliver more...I turned the table, the cheech.....The only way to win against a negative nag is to stoop down. I know to the average by-stander both parties look the fool. But I'm not swayed by what others think ( except W amd Rush ) I'm confident in what I believe.

Re: Sen. Kerry's recent blunder...

Kerry is not running in Texas so guess we are ok.

Sounds like he had a flashback (old grade '60s LSD causes that sometimes). During VN we had a draft and if you could not keep your deferrment you went to be killed. Some who had connections include GWB, WJC, Sir Cheney and Rummy, and oh yeah Sir Rush.

There are many others, but the ones I despise most are what became known as "Chickenhawks." Too gutless to serve but given the power send young American soldiers in harms way while they play like they are serving. (yeah, leather flight jacket).

Having served gives on no special privileges but it does give some insight that those who managed to avoid service might not have.

Such as: bodies in two parts, buddies brains on your uniform, dead bodies of children (that you may have killed accidentally or while being used to shield the enemy), dead bodies of the enemy (who were no sure why they were there either and held no hatred of me individually.

Ok sorry off the soap box. I know what Kerry was intending to say, and it was not against the troops but he sure pulled a W. Maybe after they retire W and Kerry can hang out together and prove who is the more ignorant.

God Bless America, we surely need it now.

Re: Sen. Kerry's recent blunder...

If you take the quote in context, HE IS NOT CALLING TROOPS STUPID. I'm sorry none of you can read between the lines, but he was making a comment about Bush...........NOT THE TROOPS. Wether you agree with him or not, thats what he was trying to say. If you think he was calling the soldiers idiots, then well..............you are in fact the idiot.

Thanks at least someone actully heard what he said: He was calling Bush a idiot for his failed Iraq policies. Fox had the whole reply by Bush before he went on tv so it was prepared by someone for him, What he couldn't speak for himself? Someone else had to write for him? OH, he lost his crayon and he could not remember what he was suppose to write about.
