Seneca Lake VHF? DSC?

Hi Folks!

We'll be traveling to Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes soon, and I'm wondering whether it's worth the trouble to take a marine VHF radio along?

Does the Coast Guard or auxiliary monitor VHF there? Are DSC distress calls monitored there?

Last year when I was there I monitored very little VHF traffic. There is a Coast Guard Aux at the N.E. end of the lake, just East of the State Park marina.

think it does, last year i was on it and got weather bulletins through my radio (note it has a weather band) but always a good idea.

T
