Sensor?

I have a 1997 Bayliner Capri with a 3.0 Mercruiser 135hp I/O. While prepping the boat for an excursion I found a black wire with a metal blunt tip coming from the transom compartment to the left of the engine. It looks like it might be some sort of sensor. It is lying on the floor under the blower hose, looks like it is coming from the left corner of the boat with all the other wires. Any idea what it could be?

Re: Sensor?

Do you have a photo of the wire? The blunt tip could possibly be the remains of a connector that broke off due to corrosion.

Sounds like temp sensor to me 2. If you can trace the wire does it head back up to the DF??

Re: Sensor?

If it is a temp sensor it should be in the water. Can you post a picture of it?
