serial number location

I just bought a used boat and I am trying to find out what year the motor is. Its a 225 mercury, I have found plenty of sites that will tell you the year if you know the serial #.

I have looked all over the motor and do not see any serial numbers.
Any assistance on where to look would be much appreciated.

I have looked on the transom plate and do not see any numbers. A picture would help me as I must be blind.

It should be stamped into this soft plug.

Thank you !
Now I will try and locate that plug, I am not looking at my motor right now but that pic dosent look familiar to me. Is that looking at the front or rear of the motor ?

OK,
I have looked there and my motor dose not have any plugs like that on the top.
I have also looked on the transom plate with out any luck .

Any other ideas ?

look for the same kind of plugs on the sides of the block with 7 digits stamped into it.
