I have a 2000 model Merc 25 s/n 0T093900, Model # 1-025301WD. I've had to have the powerhead replaced and was curious.....does the serial number on the outside of the engine where the model number is located coincide with any numbers cast or stamped on the powerhead?

Cast numbers are only casting numbers or part numbers. Any serial numbers on the powerhead are always stamped. You may have a welch plug somewhere on the block with the stamped serial number.

Re: Serial Number Question.....

If you are taking the s/n from the tag, 0T093900, on a new engine, you would find a disc like this on the lower RH side of the engine block also containing 0T093900.

If the numbers don't match, someone has bought a used power head and installed it or there may be a blank disc if it has been re-built.

Re: Serial Number Question.....

Thanks Carholme. I bought a used powerhead to replace mine that had burned a piston.

Thanks again.
