Hi,

I helped reassemble a 70 evinrude with my neighbour, but the gasket seal between the powerhead and the lower is leaking water. we checked the torque on the bolts and it is fine, so we must have messed up the gasket somehow.

Anyway when we tried it out on the river it ran fine but there was water leaking from that area... it would be a pain in the >ss to go back and take off the powerhead, redo put back on and my neighbour is of the thinking that it will do no harm running it with the leak..

What are the dangers of running it with this leak......or couldwe possibly seal off the joint outside with JB or something.....

Goofy question i know but hey if you don't ask you'll never know.....;)

Take the powerhead back off. It's possible, and even likely that that water is from the IN side of the circuit and if you run it long like that you could cook your freshly reassembled motor... If the gasket is damaged, sealing the outside edge won't fix it...
