Seriously is this realistic

Bouncing around the web as I have the past week and a half or so looking for "The" boat and Putting boats on my list to take a peek at when I get home on the first of July I found this on ebay.

I don't know much about boat values and I don't know much about Crownline Boats and even if this boat is in immaculate condition I have not seen anything this expensive in this age range. What say you?

I won't buy anything that I can't touch, feel, hold or play with before I give my hard earned money away. That leaves out craigslist an E-bay too many scammers out there that want to part your money from you.

Follow your gut, you already doubt what you are seeing or you would not have posted it

I plan on actually visiting a couple of dealers in my area and looking at a couple of marinas at my local lake. I wouldn't give anyone my hard earned cash for something that I haven't laid my hands on or had the opportunity to dunk in the water. Thats why i am leaning toward a dealer. and I'll bring my wood mallet with me lol.

I just saw this and went holy heck that can't be what he wants for that boat. I can see top end at $5,000 But $10,000. I could buy a Brand new Bayliner for $15,000 and thats with some nice extras unfortunately thats way out of my price range.

Heck i can buy something 5 years old with low hours for $10,000. Unfortunately I can't afford the $10,000 boat. $5,000 is pushing my top end and I have seen some pretty nice boats out there in the $4,000 - $5,000 price range. That seems to be the sweet spot so to say.

It *might* be worth $5k if it's in good condition. Not worth $10k.

I'm guessing it started out at $10K? It's $5K now and probalby worth that or close given the condition. In one picture it looks like an ID plate has paint around it.

Defiantly paint on the plate, actually looks like brush marks. In my younger years they call paint rebuilding compound

My original thought was the guy put a lot of work and money into it getting it up to snuff then decided to try and sell it and get what he thought his money and work was worth.

The adds do amuse me. Especially Craig's list. on some of them I say to myself "This person cant be serious" or "Does this person really want to sell their boat?".

I agree that it might be worth the opening bid but not a penny more. And thats if it is in great mechanical shape and even then its risky...

Uhhh - craigslist you go look at the item before paying for it
Maybe you want everyone to bring advertised items to YOU to inspect
Even on Ebay i doubt a honest serious seller will hold a buyer to a "immediate" deposit - If they insist i'd say stick it --

Back to the original question- I agree with the $5000, No way on the 10 grand

It's probably worth 6k around here. At least from the shopping I did before buying mine. You cant even find a bow rider with a good transom/deck for less than $4k here. If its in as good of shape as it looks in the pictures it'd probably go for more than 5k pretty easy here.

yea definitely looks like that plate has been cleaned with a solvent of some kind.

I am finding out more and more I am most likely going to be in the $4,000 - $5,000 price range. I can find stuff listed on the net in the $2,000 - 3,500 range that have some issues most with bad or non running motors and bad floors if the motor runs. We are talking on 20 year old boats. If I get to the 10 year old and lower range i'm looking at anywhere from $5,500 - $10,000. Maybe I'll buy my decent condition needs new vinyl and a good cleaning with putting a part on here and there boat. and Use it till I can save up for that New or nearly new Bayliner in the future.

Since I have been spending all the time wait for the fish to bite browsing CL for used boat. I can say that boat, even if it's lake ready perfect condition, worth only $4000 ~ $5000. Now, if there is any thing that require works, even minor, the price can drop by the amount needed for the repair to be done. Since all old boats isn't perfect. I would say the realistic price range for a 18 years old 19' runabout type of boat in perfect condition could probably only fetch $3000 ~ $4000.

Of course, boat price varies greatly depending on region. My guessstimate is probably only good for California.

WOW top bid $7,200 and still reserve not met. I would say that he will have to reduce the asking price or reserve if he wants to sell the boat.

I saw a 2005 Bayliner for sale by a dealer that went for less than that.

You do realize that name plate is on the trailer? It's a sloppy paint job but it's just the trailer.

The thing that gets me is the location of the Cert. sticker on the port side. It should be to the aft of the Reg. numbers. I see this all the time and on nice new boats. Sometimes they don't put a space or hyphen between the state letters and numbers. One time I actually saw on one side they had the Reg numbers running bacwards. It's like they are advertising, "I can afford this expensive boat but im to stupid to apply stickers correctly". LOL
