Ok... I just received the service history on the boat I might buy... Turns out the PO was a liar... I guess I am not wholly suprised.

I'm going to write verbatim what it says on the work order. This all happened in December of 2004:

-----------------------
REBUILD STERN DRIVE THAT WAS DAMAGED ----- NEEDED TO REMOVE LOWER UNIT, DIAL INDICATE PROP SHAFT, DISASSEMBLE DRIVE, REBUILD LOWER DRIVE WITH NEW PARTS, CLEAN UPPER AND RESEAL, INSTALL LOWER UNIT, RUN ENGINE AND ADJUST, AND PERFORM SKEG WELD ----- CUSTOMER OPTED NOT TO DO ANYTHING WITH THE PROPS.
------------------------

Here is what he paid for:

------------------------
Carrier Assy
Skeg Plate
Bushing
Prop Shaft
Repair Kit, Lower Unit
Phantom Black Paint
Zinc Primer
Drive Gasket Set W\R
Gear Lube
------------------------

Now I have doubts... Dammitall. Should I consider this a deal-breaker and NOT get it?

Pro: Its recently been rebuilt
Con: Its recently been rebuilt

ARGH.

Sean

Edit: The total bill for that service was $3,639... I'm paying $4095 for the boat...
