Looking on ebay for 1976 55 HP Johnson manual...found a few but they are quite expensive! There are a few different manuals, is the only one I really need the 'service manual'?

Google "KenCook Marine" and order the one you need. The "good" manuals are not cheap but do work the best.

You should be able to get one on CD for much cheaper than the paper book ones.

I prefer the factory service manuals to the aftermarket clymer and seloc manuals. The factory stuff is a bit more spendy but worth it if you plan to keep your motor over the long haul.

Re: Service/Parts Manuals

The factory manuals are more expensive but they really are worth it, the Clymers, Seloc ect cover 10-20 engines over a 10 year period and rarely cover your engine, with the factory manual the only thing in the book is your engine and nothing else.

Also stay away from the CDs, I got one and they are worse than the Selocs unless you have a computer in your garage, they are really hard to loo stuff up on and you have to print out what you need every time you work on it, kind of pain, spend the money, you will be glad you did.

Definitely get the OEM manual. The first time you need to perform a test/adjustment specific to your particular motor, you'll relize the value of your investment.

get the factory service manual, you will not regret it.

for parts breakdowns, just go to shop.evinrude.com then choose your engine, year, and model
