Setting Points On 20hp 1967 Mercury

When Setting The Gap Between Contacts Do I Line Up The Key Stock Slot With The Contacts Or With The
Piece That Pushes Against The Crank Shaft Cam When I Gauge The Gap? DO I NEED PICTURES?

You set them with the points resting on one of the lobes or another words open as wide as they will go.

What is the point setting you used for your Mercury?

points set at .020,turn crankshaft with a ratchet with flywheel nut on threads to high point on the crankshaft;then gauge points to above setting.
