Here is my issue. I had a 2003 225 hp DI Evinrude put on my 22' 1978 Duckworth with an O/B conversion. There is also a 1981 25 hp Evinrude kicker( unsure if has charging system). The boat has 2 red top optima starting batteries and an AGM deep cycle house battery. After hearing of others mucking up their charging systems and EMM issues i need to figure out how to rig this mess. All boat accessory wiring is going to be on the house battery, except the auto float for bilge. the main engine has ignition wired to one of the optimas. there is an auxiliary charging stud on the motor. In my original configuration both engines and both optima's were tied together through a 1,2 all perko switch, with a single + and -cable running to both motor's with an inline splice to run to the kicker. BRP(evinrude) does not recommend having the kicker on same cable as the new engine (it is a 2-0 cable). In the end I would prefer to be able to switch between motors with out having to throw/ turn a battery switch. Is this possible? can i rig to charge all 3 batteries from the main.....? I am very electrical/ mechanically savy but you almost need a EE degree to sort this out. I attached a crude sketch for a visual of old set up and what i think the new set up will be.
