No not me. Some may argue that point. I have a Triton TR21. One of my rod box lids has the screws loose on one of the hinges going into the hull. I tried tighting them with the original screws but discovered that the holes were either stripped by the previous owner or through the bouncing worked a larger hole. I replaced the size 10 screws with size 12. Problem solved. I'm thinking about removing the screws and putting adhesive on their threads to prevent future problems. What would you suggest? I have been thinking about 3M 5200 adhesive or something like liquid nails.

Thanks,
John

Nice boat, I think the 5200 would be fine and a good thought. I found the same thing in my 18' tracker and did the same thing you did, I think I will try the 5200 myself. Your are right, the lids take quite a beating on these boats.

Hows the fishing, my home lake has recently raised 2 + feet over the last week of rain, temp was about 65*, but I have no Idea what it is now. May have to give it a week to stablize before trying it agin.

What I did with my old old bayliner, was to dip the screws in carpenters glue, and replace them then wipe off excess glue.Just be carefull around any carpet,it does look messy if you get any on.... I never had a problem with any coming loose after.

Jim

Re: Several Screw Loose

I ended going 1 size over and put 3M 5200 on all screws for the rod lockers. Holds everything tight but have yet to get back on the water. I tried to go fishing on Sam Rayburn last weekend (a big father son thing that we rarely get to do) and woke up Saturday moring to find all 8 rods and reels stolen. GRRRRRR! Texas law says you can use deadly force to prevent theft at night. I wished I hadn't slept so soundly. I know better than to trust people. The fishing was tough weekend before last on Sam Rayburn. I had 2 keeper bass in 2 days with water temp at about 80. A big Bass Champs tournament was held the same week. Even for a big lake it was crowded on all the good holes. I think it was around 490 boats entered. A lot of people zeroed and a couple had 20+ lbs. sacks.

Anyway, thanks for the input. I depend a lot on others so that I don't mess something up or to draw from y'alls experiences.

John

Locktite 242 is good too. Don't spill on the carpet or gelcoat.
