Re: Sevylor Floorboard???

I'm new to the site but here is what I did to my FH 360. Although, I have recently cut my pole holders shorter and painted them black. I built my own floor, seats and the center seat serves as a stowable for my junk. I use the Sevylor SBM 18lb thrust motor and it does good. I do want to get a 30lb thrust but I will do that in the future. I have taken the boat out with my wife and my two sons and it performed well. I also opted to build my own motor mount instead of buying it. It is similar to the sevylor motor mount and it works great.

How did you measure your floorboard? So far, I've created a template from the measurements provided by Dobbs571 above and laying the template on the bottom of the boat for the curved portions. I'm afraid that 29" wide isn't wide enough. Any suggestions?

29" will be plenty trust me on that. I think mine is 27 1/2. I made my floor different than what is listed above because I wasn't on this forum at the time I built mine. You also have to keep in mind that when the boat is in the water the floor will give some. I can stand up in mine with no issues at all.

Re: Sevylor Floorboard???

29 in will be tight when it aired up that is the size of the factory floor broads. If you make it the size of the of the seam in side of the boat it will be too tight and may bust the seams when aired up . When mine is installed and the raft is aired to .9 lbs you cant get youe fingers around the sides of the floor its that tight .I did cut the ends down a little because they seem almost to tight to me .If you need to know any thing elese just post I will try to help.

Dobbs,
Do you have a pic of your motor mount? I added a piece to mine and it's not as bad right now as is was the first time I took her out on the water. Nonetheless, people can't stop looking at us on the water and all my friends want one now. I love this thing. It's not a bass boat but it gets me where I want to go!!

I will try to get some pic i have put my raft away for the wenter . what I did was on the new seat frame across the back its 32 in wide pc I welded two sleaves with 3/4 id tubing I run my motor mount bars thru this and have a wing bolt that I tighten up.that way the motor mount bars only go about 12in from the back end made a big diff with the soport that close to the back . those bars are about 4 and 1/2 ft long with nothing to hond them and the bow when the motor pushes hard .

Re: Sevylor Floorboard???

I have a HF360 i used it all summer and it was great. the only problem i had was that i could not stand up in the boat. i looked around online for the floorboards but every one was sold out so i'm thinking i'm going to have to make my own. the problem is my boat and every thing with it needs to beable to fit into my car. and i'm not going to beable to fit a solid floorboard in my car so its going to have to be sectional. so i was thinking if i made the solid floor board and cut it in half so each half meets in the middle of the boat and put a small board under where the two half meet for extra suport i plan to put my battery on top there so so that board will help suport that heavy battery and i also have a rug that is already fitted to the floor of the boat that i used this summer so i would put that down to help protect the floor. so i was just wondering what you guys thought of my idea and maybe you could point out any flaws that i'm missing.... i also drew it in paint just incase anyone was unsure how i plan to do this.

Re: Sevylor Floorboard???

that was kind of the way I was going to do it but one side of the borad on the under side was going to be bolted or gluded then a borad the same sixe on top .Set ti up to where i ran 3 bolts on each side down thru the floor and in tothe bottom borad and into plywood nuts and the bolts cut to the right leanth then when tighten up would be stronger than the rest of the floor . I have some drawngs I made up if I can find them.Basciely the floor would be sanwitched between the two borads if you understand what I mean.

Re: Sevylor Floorboard???

I used 1/2" conduit that I bought from Lowes. I'm getting ready to make my motor mount thicker because I just got a 30lb thrust minkota. I'm going to use my 18lB thrust sevylor for the front. This boat has been awesome the whole time I have owned it. I live in Texas so the fishing season is still going for me.

Re: Sevylor Floorboard???

Hey all,
I just wanted to thank everyone who's responded to this thread. I just got done making a floor for my HF280 and this has helped me out a ton.

One more quick question for those that have made their own floors; did you cut holes in the floor where the plastic pieces are that hold the ropes on the floor? I just installed my floor and it seems like it's riding too high.

Thanks
Andy

Re: Sevylor Floorboard???

Well, since I'm in a hurry to get this project done I've decided to poke holes in the floorboard. Just waiting for the battery to charge on my drill right now. I'll let you know how it turned out and post pics when all is said and done.

what I did was to move a fu in off line with the rope holders and drill I think were 5/16 holes and put plywood nuts in and cut off eye bolts to the right xleanth and tie my rope to that look at pic and you can see.

Re: Sevylor Floorboard???

Thanks dobbs! The boat is just about done, I just have to put everything together and get a pic. Anyway, I'm having a bit of a problem with the boot, mostly that it's smarter than I am. Any tips out there on how to put the boat boot on properly?
